We complete our mission by:

  • Each therapist spends personal time with you completing a thorough initial evaluation and establishing a personalized program specific to your goals.
  • Each therapist maintains higher level knowledge and advanced manual and treatment techniques through continuing education.
  • Each treating therapist is well experienced in a number of areas. Our therapist share our knowledge with each other at monthly meetings and discuss challenging cases that may not be responding to PT.
  • Each treating therapist and staff member cares. We put the patient first.
  • We offer affordable post rehabilitation services to help you maintain you quality of life.

Earl Cox

Earl Cox, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS, MS

Dr. Earl Cox, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS, MS graduated from Beaver College (now Arcadia University) in 1995 with his Masters of Science in Physical Therapy.  He then pursued and achieved his transitional doctorate of physical therapy from Evidence in Motion. Dr. Cox is the founder and CEO of Superior Physical Therapy & Sports Rehab. He opened his first office in 2001 when he had the vision and goal to become one of the preferred outpatient physical therapy private practices in Frederick County.  Since opening, he and his team have been fortunate enough to a second location in Frederick and one in Purcellville, VA.

Dr. Cox has over 20 years of clinical experience and prides himself on his ability to listen and help solve the root cause of a injury or pathology for patients of any age.  He holds certifications in proficiency for Electrodiagnostic testing (EMG/NCV Studies) and Vestibular rehabilitation. He also earned is Orthopedic Specialist certification from ABPTS and is a Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

Earl has a passion for sports and played lacrosse, soccer and ice hockey at the collegiate level.  His passion for playing sports has helped him with his treatment of athletes at various levels. His abilities have been helping athletes return to their sport as quickly, safely, and most prepared as possible.

Dr. Cox is also very active in the community currently coaching soccer for MVAA and is the former head Coach of both the Middletown and Linganore High School Ice Hockey teams. Prior to having 3 lovely daughters he enjoyed playing hockey for a Men’s National Ice Hockey Team and coaching travel ice hockey.  He now enjoys volunteering at his daughter's schools and attending numerous community events. Dr. Cox's goal is not only to provide the best care in helping individuals reduce pain and improve function, but to be at the forefront of wellness and evidence-based practice in the region.


Dr. David Hayes

Dr. David Hayes, DPT
Director of Physical Therapists

Dr. David Hayes is a Maryland native who has recently returned after working in an outpatient hospital setting in Georgia. Dr. Hayes is our new clinic director and has been practicing outpatient physical therapy for 11 years. He graduated with his doctorate from Marymount University in 2012. He is certified in dry needling and is passionate about providing care to his community without the need for prescribing medication. Outside of the clinic, you can find him in the gym, watching horror movies, or scouting the local food scene with his wife and son.


Janet S. Keller

Jesse Parsons, DPT

Dr. Jesse Parsons, PT, DPT, CSCS graduated from Shenandoah University with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy after attending Liberty University for an undergraduate degree in exercise science. Jesse is originally from Ijamsville MD, and has recently moved back to MD with his wife, Kiersten. Dr. Parsons enjoys playing and watching basketball, soccer, and golf along with reading fiction in his free time.

Dr. Parsons' goal for each patient is to get them back to their optimal level of performance as quickly as possible so that they can enjoy doing what they love. Jesse is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and works to incorporate strength, endurance, and power principles with each patient.


Lynne Schill

Lynne Schill, MPT

Lynne Schill, MPT, is a pelvic floor physical therapist who has been practicing PT for over 25 years. She is a graduate of Slippery Rock University. Lynne has a vast array of experience in various settings including inpatient, long-term care, outpatient orthopedics, aquatic therapy, and pediatrics.

Lynne has been providing pelvic floor PT to the residents of Frederick county and beyond for the past 7 years. Over this time, she has established the trust and respect of many local physicians who have become regular referral sources.

Lynne has found this specialty area to be the most rewarding of all of her experiences because of the profound and life-changing effects the therapy she provides has on women's lives.

Lynne is very passionate about providing pelvic floor PT including treatment for incontinence, pelvic prolapse,interstitial cystitis, pelvic pain, pre and postpartum, post hysterectomy, and many more diagnoses.
She is eager to continue her evidence based practice at Superior Physical Therapy.


Sammy Nguyen

Sammy Nguyen, DPT

Dr. Sammy Nguyen is a New Jersey native who graduated with his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University and went on to earn his doctorate from Messiah University in June 2022. Dr. Nguyen joined our clinic full-time in May 2023 and is one of our two physical therapists on staff at our Thomas Johnson location. You can find Dr. Nguyen at the Spring Ridge office during the week as well. You'll never catch Sammy without a smile on his face and enjoys bringing patients the care they need and peace of mind that they are in good hands.


Sydney Thompson

Stephen Dankert, PTA

Stephen Dankert is from Sykesville, MD. He attended Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA receiving his BS in exercise science and then attended Carroll Community College receiving his Associate degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant. He worked in outpatient Cardiopulmonary Rehab for three years prior to making the change to outpatient Physical Therapy. He is very personable and is great at creating positive patient-therapist relationships, communicating through each stage of therapy progressions.


Sydney Thompson

Jennifer McConnell, PTA

After suffering a running injury, Jenn was introduced to Physical Therapy and decided to make a career change into PT. Jenn graduated from Carroll Community College as a Physical Therapist Assistant in December 2020. Jenn has experience in treating patients in both the outpatient orthopedic and inpatient environments. Currently, Jenn is pursuing certification as a Certified Strength and Condition Specialist. Jenn lives in Ijamsville with her husband, two children, two dogs and two guinea pigs.
